Here's some more messing around with Isadora. Here I made the image zoom in in response to the volume of the sound. I also increased the colour saturation with the sound. i think this looks good but it can go to far and then look very pixelated.
Here, I used alpha mask to show people (perhaps and audience) filmed on the screen. It would be great I could position a separate webcam to film the audience at another location to the computer.
I'd really like to show this in a disco environment.
Here I used Isadora software to play around with some 80's music videos...

Divine 'Shoot your Shot'- HSL adjust
I think it could be really cool to adjust these effects using live input. For example, a person walks in, and if they move to the left, the video mixes to Lime and if they move to the right the video mixes to Divine.
Or maybe with sound too. For example, if they make more noise, the HSL increases.

When you walk in front of it, different words move into different positions, illustrating how we reassemble different parts of our personalities to suit different situations.
This video looks at the liberal, western approach to religion.
Richard and I have been watching a lot of the BBC series 'Around the world in 80 Faiths'. It's a very interesting series about different religions all over the world. It's presented by a charismatic vicar called Peter Owen-Jones. I feel quite captivated by him because he seems to epitomise a kind of liberal acceptance and curiosity of other world views while staying secure in his own. He also has an eccentric, unselfconscious presenting style, reminding me of an uncle that you would make fun of behind his back but also love very dearly and later feel bad about making fun of.
He was expelled from Public School aged 16 and went to Australia where he washed up dishes for a living and drank beer on the beach. He came back to the UK and took on various jobs- he was farm labourer and also ran a mobile disco for a while. In his early 20's got a job as a runner in an advertising agency and worked his way up to become Creative Director. However, when he had married and had 3 children, he decided to enrol in the Anglican ministry. He gained notoriety when he conducted a service for the Newbury Bypass protestors.
My favourite moments are when he chews the stimulant drug, Quat, in the middle east and when he tries Caapi, a hallucinogenic drug in Brazil. When asked to describe his experience of the drug, he gives the same blase response in both situations "It's just a very mellow thing, really".
There's also a nice part in Nepal when he sees a new born baby being massaged with oil and his mother squirting breast milk into a flame. He unabashedly praises the miracle of birth and the lovely scene of the baby being caressed. He then gazes, fascinated, on the mother's breasts as she lactates into the flame and he says that it's the first time he's seen a sacrifice of human milk in this way.
In the scenes I used below, he is invited to stand on a man who is laying on a bed of nails, in order to show his strong faith in God.
In this video I wanted to half make fun of and half rejoice in Peter Owen-Jones.
Peter Owen-Jones makes an introduction to "The Lake of Healing"- a mock- meditation workshop that supposed to make you relaxed but really just makes you laugh.
So this blog will be about the next step, after studying... I would like to continue making videos, learning about new software and thinking about different ways to present work and interact with the public.
I'll start here by adding a daft retro-eurodisco song+video made with my boyfriend on a sunny Sunday in September...
Here is a fictional history of "Macho Macho"
This is the debut single, Macho Macho Playa, from retro-eurodisco duo 'Macho Macho'. Macho Macho consist of Fabio Guglio and Arnold Morris, who met on Hunstanton beach in 1984 when they were both 12 years old. Their friendship was cemented when Arnold asked Fabio what his favourite Prince song was, and Fabio turned to Arnold and answered with one word.
"Sexuality."
With that a deep connection was formed. Their relationship was platonic, but although they were never lovers, their connection was a mystical and sexual bond.
They also agreed that their favourite Prince album was "Controversy" and as they grew older, their love of disco music grew, as did their sense of alienation in the Norfolk education system. Arnold left school early and became a youth worker at a local radio station and Fabio went on to work for the Fenland tourist board, running workshops on marsh grass identification. They were reunited in 2011 when they bumped into each other at a birdwatching talk.
After sorting out some creative differences as to whether or not the song should have a strong environmental message, they resolved to pursue their childhood dreams of music and recorded the music and video for Macho Macho Playa on one sunny Sunday.
